For Jamie DiGrazia’s collection, which earned her a spot as a 2019 North American Hairstyling Awards finalist in the men’s styling category, she wanted to demonstrate the versatility of all different types of hair textures.
“All hair types can take on many forms as it grows and is styled,” she says. “Hair is hair and it is limitless—shape and style have no boundaries.”
Shadowy vignettes spotlight sharp lines and geometric shapes. DiGrazia wanted each image to be able to stand alone with their own intricate silhouettes, angles and movement, yet for them to work cohesively together within the collection.
“I wanted each shape to have more than one interesting element, yet have all of them flow together,” she says. “They are bold, defined and structured, showing power and movement as they come together.”
NAHA 2020 entries open June 6, 2019.
